The high schooler has been recognized as Lucas Higginbotham. He was 18 and played football for the Jasper High School Vikings.

The mishap happened at 2:19 a.m. on Sunday, as shown by Senior Trooper Gregory Corble. Experts said Higginbotham was driving a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe that left the road and struck a tree. The high schooler was verbalized dead on the scene.

The hazardous situation happened on Old Duncan Bridge Road, nine miles south of Arley.

Jasper Vikings Football posted this on Facebook: “It is with certified misery that we report the demise of one of our own. Our considerations and petitions are with his family during this time. May the agreement and comfort of the Lord be with you now and reliably.”
