It was with incredible distress that I read the declaration from Marty’s Barbecue that Lawrence Ellis has died. In the same way as others who were brought up in this space, I worked at Bill’s Bbq in secondary school. Both Marty and Lawrence were magnificent folks.
Lawrence was a vehicle fellow in those days and worked on something for me that I will always remember. I had a red Mustang with oxidized paint. He had me drive it to his place – on his three-day weekend – and continued to make my vehicle look like new. Not nothing to joke about to a few, but rather I have always remembered that basic thoughtful gesture. His actual person was uncovered that day. He will be incredibly missed. Our musings and petitions go out to his family.
