Carl Madsen Cause of Death – Longtime NFL ref Carl Madsen passed on Sunday returning from directing the Week 7 matchup between the Chiefs and Titans. He was 71 years of age.
Madsen went through the most recent 12 years as a replay official and before that went through 12 years as a field official.
“Carl Madsen was a NFL directing apparatus for over twenty years, first as an exceptionally regarded on-field official before changing to a replay job in 2009,” NFL senior VP Walt Anderson said in an assertion. “An awesome companion and associate, Carl’s adoration for football and devotion to administering were ever-present, as he liberally shared his chance to coach youthful authorities at centers the nation over. A veteran of the Air Force, Carl had an enormous soul and will be incredibly missed.”
In an assertion, NFL Referees Association president Scott Green addressed Madsen’s darling remaining among his friends.
“Carl will be remembered fondly by the people who worked with him on the field and in the replay,” Green said. “He had a moniker among his kindred authorities of “Huge Country” which was identified with his size as well as to his enormous character as a warm and liberal man.”
Madsen served in the U.S. Flying corps from 1973-76. His reason for death is indistinct.
