According to the Niagara Parks Commission, Sandie Bellows died Sunday night after a brave battle with cancer.
Bellows was the chair of the Niagara Parks Commission and Niagara regional councillor for St. Catharines. She was also a victims’ rights advocate and community leader.
Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley describes her as a “fierce victims’ rights advocate” who “dedicated her life to the people of Niagara.”
Among her many accomplishments, Bellows helped re-develop the Table Rock Centre and restore the Niagara Parks Power Station, transforming it into a tourist attraction.
A ceremony in Bellows’ honour will be held in the near future.
Bellows leaves behind two sons.
